Mystery Solved

This explains why I was crying all the way home in the car last night.
Well, almost all the way. I obviously fell asleep at some point.

Danger is my Middle Name

The only way Mommy could tempt me away from the fireplace, fireplace screen, and fire poker was to lure me with another toy I'm not supposed to play with - the video camera. What can I say? I live on the edge.

First Trip to the Zoo

I couldn't see much - it was pretty crowded, but what I could see I really enjoyed. I am looking forward to going again soon!

I am officially on the move!

It is really difficult to get a picture of me in action, partly because I move so quickly and partly because Mommy is frantically babyproofing the areas around me as I go. Here I am systematically pulling everything off of the bookshelf in my bedroom. Fun!

Happy Halloween!

Photographic Evidence

Mommy said that Grandma would need to see a picture of me wearing my plastic princess bib to believe that I wore it for a whole meal...

Without doing this.

New Kicks

Since the mornings are getting a little cooler, Mommy and Daddy got me a pair of shoes. I can only wear them for short periods of time, because they really freak me out. I have done all I can think of to get rid of them - I pull and pull at them and kick my feet frantically to fling them off, but nothing works.

On a side note, I have been holding out my hand like this and waving my arm up and down a lot lately. We are still in the process of trying to figure out what it means. Stay tuned...

Bananas

Mommy asked me the other day whether, if given the choice, I would eat only bananas. I think the answer is obvious.

NOTE: Bananas also make an excellent mousse for your hair (as seen in this video) - it has a strong hold without that stiff feeling.

My First Hurricane

About two weeks ago, I went through my first hurricane. I wanted to be prepared, so I got together all of my supplies - bottled water, canned food, flashlights and a radio...

After all of that preparation, I slept through the whole thing. Mommy stayed in my room with me, but she didn't sleep much. When I woke up the next morning, this is what our back yard looked like, and we didn't have electricity.

We hung around the house a little while, hoping the air conditioner would come back on...but it didn't. Mommy and Daddy gave me some ice water to keep cool. I drank some of it and wore the rest.

After a couple of days, we gave up on our electricity and went to hang out with people who did have electricity. One night, we stayed with my cousins, Macy, Jack and Davis. Davis even let me sleep in his bed! When we went back home, we still didn't have electricity, so we went to stay with Grandma and Grandpa Bush for a whole week. Here I am taking a bath in Grandma's kitchen sink!

Twelve days later, our electricity came back on. The day after that, the air conditioner broke.

Ike

Daddy is my hero. The morning after the hurricane, he was in our front yard and he saw a little squirrel laying in a puddle of water trapped under a large branch. He was soaking wet and exhausted. Daddy found a stick and helped the squirrel into a bottle brush tree in our front yard where he could rest and get strong again.
Mommy looked out into the tree and saw that the squirrel was hanging by his two front legs, and he was too weak to pull himself up into the tree. She got a small box and made a bed for him to sleep in until he felt better. We named him Ike.
Ike slept for two whole days. Mommy gave him some birdseed, but he didn't want to eat. He didn't move for a really long time. After two days, he started to sit up and look at us. On the third day, he crawled out of the box and went out into our yard to play with the other squirrels. Thanks to Daddy, he got better!

I'M STARVING!

When Mommy started giving me solid foods last month, I wasn't a big fan. I would try just about anything, but didn't want more than a couple of bites. The nurse at my doctor's office suggested that she just offer me a little bit of food twice a day. No one ever told her when (or how) to increase the amount.

When I started at my new school this week, I noticed that the other kids had a lot more food than I did. I asked my new teachers about this, and they politely informed Mommy that she might want to send a little extra food -- just in case I was hungry for more.

Mommy, always the skeptic, called the nurse. The nurse told Mommy that I should be eating three meals a day (not two), and quite a bit more than I have been eating. I don't want to alarm anyone, but the nurse said I should probably be eating 2-3 times as much as I was. Don't worry, I was making up for it with my milk intake.

Now, I don't want to let Mommy off the hook too easy, because I have been trying to tell her for weeks now that I am REALLY HUNGRY, but it seems like someone should have brought this to her attention before now. This is her first time, you know.

She made up for it tonight - I had a delicious feast of Turkey Vegetable Dinner, with pears for dessert. I am not exaggerating when I say it was the best meal I have ever had (no offense Mommy).

And I will call her Mini Me.

First Balloon

For a small fee, the above video may be used at your next baby safety seminar.

(Don't worry, Mommy took the string away and fixed it immediately after she turned off the camera.)

First Kiss

Mommy thinks this is my first kiss. I didn't have the heart to tell her she just had leftover frosting from Michael's birthday cake on her arm.

The Paparazzi

No more pictures, please!

Oh, okay, just one more...

It's a good thing this isn't a scratch'n'sniff picture...

...if you catch my drift!

Shopping

After thoroughly sterilizing the area, checking for broken parts, sharp edges and leftover nastiness from previous customers AND THEN inserting this cover so that I couldn't touch any part of the cart, Mommy let me ride in a shopping cart at Target this morning.

Unfortunately, after all of that nonsense, I wasn't really in the mood for shopping anymore...

I Dig Vegetables

That's right - I actually ate something that color of green. AND I liked it.

I think this picture shows a marked improvement over the previous post. I didn't even get any peas in my hair tonight. And that is only after four days. If I can keep this up, I should be making my own meals by the end of the month.

Sweet Potatoes

The introduction of sweet potatoes to my diet has brought with it
several new and exciting experiences...
the daily bath, for instance.

A future Olympian?

So there I was playing with my new sippy cup in my bouncy seat, putting on quite a show. Arms flapping, legs kicking, the whole bit. And Mommy had the nerve to turn her back on me. Something about having to wash her hands, blah, blah, blah...

So I did what anyone else in that situation would have done and threw my sippy cup at her from across the room. It landed just inches from where she was standing.

Daddy immediately left to buy me a baseball glove.

It sounded like a good idea...

Several people have suggested that Mommy take a picture of me in the same chair with the same toy every month, so that we can look back and see how I've grown.
Somehow, I don't think this is what Mommy had in mind.

Today is my half birthday!

I don't want to toot my own horn or anything, but this is a BIG DEAL!

Look What I Can Do, Part 2

I can sit up all by myself!

...Sort of!

I do NOT like apples!

Take them away. I will not eat them.

Seriously, Mom, I said take them away.

Maybe... Nope. Still not going to eat them.

On an unrelated note, I think I found my blankie.

Aquarium

I went to the Moody Gardens Aquarium this weekend, and it was so much fun I thought it deserved its own post.

I'm ready to have some fun!

I had so much fun looking at all of the different animals. We were there for almost two hours and I didn't fuss once!

I think my favorite animals were the penguins. You may think I am just saying that because Mommy likes penguins, but I really did like them. There was something about the way they flap their arms that I really identified with, like their version of the happy dance.

Mommy and me in the shark tank. (Well, not IN the shark tank.)

This is what what swimming right above our heads...

Babies Gone Wild!

I hope everyone had a good Fourth of July! I went to Galveston with Mommy, Daddy and Kili, and we had a pretty good time. Here are some of the highlights...

WOO-HOO!!!!!!

Mommy bought me a whole bag of water toys. If she only would have asked me, I could have saved her some money by telling her that all I wanted to play with was this blue cup.

If it comes in a bottle, it must be milk...right?

As you can imagine, all of that activity really took it out of me, so I needed a little down time.
